ABOUT US
At Alcarbo, we are driven by a single mission: to combat climate change by harnessing the power of microalgae. As a biotechnology company, we are developing revolutionary algae photobioreactor systems (PBRs) designed to absorb and neutralize carbon dioxide (CO₂), the most abundant greenhouse gas on earth.
Our innovative approach turns CO₂—often seen as a waste product of human activities—into an essential resource. Through the natural process of algae photosynthesis, we capture CO₂ and transform it into algae biomass, which is further processed into high-value products. This solution not only removes CO₂ from the atmosphere but also creates a pathway for sustainable economic growth.
Our Strengths

01
Cutting-Edge Technology
We combine nanobubble technology, custom algae growth media, and genetic screening to enhance efficiency. Our photo-bioreactors are space-saving, cost-effective, and built to withstand extreme conditions, as proven during the typhoon seasons in Hong Kong.

Sustainable Practices
Our San Tin facility runs on solar energy, ensuring carbon-neutral algae cultivation. Using filtered wastewater instead of fresh water, and leveraging natural sunlight for cultivation, our photobioreactors minimize energy consumption and maximize sustainability.

Tailored Solutions
We partner with businesses to provide customized carbon capture services from start to finish. Our services offer a measurable way for businesses to enhance their sustainability profiles and meet environmental targets.

Our Vision & Commitment
We believe the best way to fight natural disasters is by the power of nature itself. Microalgae, one of nature’s most efficient carbon-fixing organisms, offer a scalable solution to address climate change. By combining biotechnology with sustainable innovation, we aim to help cities achieve their carbon neutrality goals under the Paris Agreement by 2050.
At Alcarbo Technologies, we’re not just creating solutions—we’re redefining the way the world views carbon. With every photobioreactor we deploy and every kilogram of CO₂ we capture, we’re taking one step closer to a greener, more sustainable planet.

San Tin, Hong Kong
Our Facility
Built in 2023, our state-of-the-art demonstration facility in San Tin, Hong Kong, is home to both small and large photobioreactors. Here, we conduct product development, algae strain cultivation, and extensive experimentation to refine our carbon capture technologies.
Sustainability is at the core of our operations. The entire facility is powered by solar panels, ensuring that the electricity required to grow algae comes without carbon emissions. This makes our algae cultivation process entirely carbon-neutral.

In keeping with our commitment to environmental responsibility, we use nearby wastewater— filtered and sterilized—as the water source for growing algae. This reduces our reliance on fresh water, contributing to resource conservation.
Our facility and photobioreactors have been put to the test in some of the harshest conditions. During different typhoons, including typhoon Signal Number 10 the facility withstood extreme weather conditions, demonstrating the resilience of our photobioreactors.
At this demonstration site, we continue to push the boundaries of algae-based carbon capture technology, showcasing both the scalability and sustainability of our solutions.
